Oh, Virginia. . .

how I love thee. My most recent gift from Virginia includes seven rosy, ripe tomatoes, some onions and a pepper variety pack. I'm thinking salsa. Yes, salsa. I will ponder for next post.

Let me just say, produce has been the hallmark our move. Every time I venture out to a market — the Iola two-truck one excepted — I've been overwhelmed with great produce and dairy products. After this Lake of the Ozarks trip, I'm planning to go out to a local farm for peach and berry picking. It's very nice to have this leisurely sense of summer, rather than Colorado's short growing season. There, the markets wrap up at the end of August, occasionally venturing into September with ho-hum results. Here, markets soldier on through October and I can hardly wait to see what's in store for me then.
